Kara Ali is a singer/songwriter hailing from New Jersey. She has been writing a fusion of rock, folk and soul since she was in High School. She is the band leader for “The Cables”, a band that she started out at Northwestern University in Chicago that combines the spirit of rock, the sweetness of folk, and the sultriness of soul.
Kara has played at venues ranging from Chicago’s “Uncommon Ground” to NY’s Historic “Bitter End”. She recorded her last two EPs at Soundwaves Studio in Union, NJ where she worked with former Socratic drummer and bassist, Thomas Stratton. Later, her EPs were sent off to be mastered by West West Side Music’s Alan Douches , who has worked on albums for the likes of everyone from Sufjan Stevens, to Toro Y Moi to Ben Folds, some of Kara’s biggest heroes and influences.
Kara Ali is now working with producer, Ken Ross, and producer Keith Allen of Curren$y Committee to morph her solo sound into a new fusion of pop, rock, folk and dance that is sure to get her fans excited. She has also been working with guitarist Adam Walter, bassist Gil Turetsky and drummer Pete Herrmann in a fresh New York band that makes the live sound new and exciting. New sounds expected to drop later this year.
